Today FMC announced a Cultivating Freedom campaign in Ukraine to support affected agricultural businesses in de-occupied regions.
In alignment with one of its core values, safety, FMC is pleased to announce the 3% donation of its 2023 sales revenue in Ukraine to assist with demining efforts in the impacted regions.
By purchasing FMC products, everyone can now directly help Ukrainian farmers in the freed territories, as well as Ukraine reconstruction.
“Our commitment to Ukraine and our support to local farmers goes back several decades. Today we are happy to keep building these relationships by bringing our latest technologies to the agricultural sector, and to directly help farmers safely access their fields, thus enabling them to work again,” said Sebastià Pons, FMC vice president and president, FMC Europe, Middle East, Africa.
FMC discontinued its operations and business in Russia at the very beginning of the full-scale invasion.
In the current context of global instability and increasing concerns for food security, FMC is today more than ever committed to supporting Ukrainian agriculture and farmers through investments in new technologies and close collaboration.
However, Ukrainian agriculture is suffering heavy losses due to the war, production facilities are destroyed and devastated, and fields are mined and covered with bomb craters. According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, due to the Russian invasion, Ukraine has become one of the leaders in explosive hazard contamination of its territories, with 25% to 30% of the country's area impacted.
The agricultural sector needs help for a stable today and a secure tomorrow.
"The agricultural industry is the leading branch of the Ukrainian economy. For a long time, Ukraine helped feed the world – but now our land is mined, and our freedom is in danger. Thus, as one of the global market leaders, we must help farmers. Cultivating Freedom is our contribution to a prosperous Ukraine and global food security," said Nataliia Savchenko, FMC country leader, Ukraine.
The company will share additional details on its Cultivating Freedom campaign shortly.
